「良知只是个是非之心。是非只是个好恶。只好恶，就尽了是非。只是非，就尽了万事万变。」
又曰：「是非两字是个大规矩，巧处则存乎其人。」
「良知只是一个是非之心，是非只是一个好恶。只要好恶，就穷尽了是非；只要是非，就穷尽了万事万变。」
又说：「『是非』两字是个大规矩，巧的地方就在各人了。」
'Innate knowledge is only the sense of right and wrong; right and wrong are only liking and disliking. Liking and disliking suffice to exhaust right and wrong; right and wrong suffice to exhaust the myriad affairs and changes.'
He added: 'These two words, right and wrong, are the great compass and square; the finesse lies with the man.'
