问：「文中子是如何人？」
先生曰：「文中子庶几『具体而微』，惜其蚤死。」
问：「如何却有续经之非？」
曰：「续经亦未可尽非。」
请问。良久，曰：「更觉『良工心独苦』。」
有人问：「文中子是个怎样的人？」
先生说：「文中子差不多是『具备全体但规模较小』的圣贤，可惜死得早。」
问：「那他为什么又有续写经书的过失？」
答：「续经也不能一概否定。」
请问其详。过了很久，先生说：「更觉得是『良工心独苦』啊。」
Someone asked: 'What manner of man was Wenzhongzi?'
The Master said: 'He almost had the whole body of the sage in miniature; a pity he died young.'
'Then why the fault of continuing the classics?'
'Even that cannot be wholly condemned.'
Asked to explain, after a long while he said: 'One feels all the more the good craftsman's heart, solitary in its pains.'
