问：「人心与物同体，如吾身原是血气流通的，所以谓之同体；若于人便异体了，禽、兽、草、木益远矣！而何谓之同体？」
先生曰：「你只在感应之机上看。岂但禽、兽、草、木，虽天地也与我同体的，鬼神也与我同体的。」
请问。
先生曰：「你看这个天地中间，甚么是天地的心？」
对曰：「尝闻人是天地的心。」
曰：「人又甚么叫做心？」
对曰：「只是一个灵明。」
「可知充天塞地中间，只有这个灵明，人只为形体自间隔了。我的灵明，便是天地、鬼神的主宰。天没有我的灵明，谁去仰他高？地没有我的灵明，谁去俯他深？鬼神没有我的灵明，谁去辩他吉、凶、灾、祥？天地、鬼神、万物，离却我的灵明，便没有天地、鬼神、万物了；我的灵明，离却天地、鬼神、万物，亦没有我的灵明。如此，便是一气流通的，如何与他间隔得？」
又问：「天地、鬼神、万物，千古见在，何没了我的灵明，便俱无了？」
曰：「今看死的人，他这些精灵游散了，他的天地、万物尚在何处？」
问：「人心与物同体，如我自身原是血气流通的，所以叫同体；若在别人便是异体了，禽兽草木更远了，怎么说同体？」
先生说：「你只在感应之机上看。岂但禽兽草木，天地也与我同体，鬼神也与我同体。」
请教。
先生说：「你看这天地中间，什么是天地的心？」
答：「曾听说人是天地的心。」
问：「人又叫什么作心？」
答：「只是一个灵明。」
先生说：「由此可知充天塞地中间，只有这个灵明，人只为形体把自己间隔了。我的灵明，便是天地鬼神的主宰。天没有我的灵明，谁去仰它的高？地没有我的灵明，谁去俯它的深？鬼神没有我的灵明，谁去辨它的吉凶灾祥？天地鬼神万物，离开我的灵明，便没有天地鬼神万物了；我的灵明离开天地鬼神万物，也没有我的灵明。如此，便是一气流通的，怎么能与它间隔？」
又问：「天地鬼神万物千古都存在着，为何没有了我的灵明，便都没有了？」
答：「且看死了的人，他的精灵游散了，他的天地万物还在哪里？」
Asked: 'The mind is one body with things: within my own self blood and breath flow as one, hence one body. But in another it is another body; beasts and plants farther still — how one body?'
The Master said: 'Look only at the spring of response and stirring. Not beasts and plants alone: heaven and earth too are one body with me, ghosts and spirits too.'
Asked to explain: 'Look into this heaven and earth — what is the heart of heaven and earth?'
'I have heard that man is the heart of heaven and earth.'
'And what is man's heart?'
'Only the one numinous brightness.'
'Know then that filling and thridding heaven and earth there is only this numinous brightness; only the body walls men apart. My numinous brightness is the master of heaven and earth and the spirits. Without my brightness, who would look up to heaven's height? Without it, who sound earth's depth? Without it, who tell the spirits' luck and doom? Let heaven, earth, the spirits and the ten thousand things part from my brightness, and there are no heaven, earth, spirits or things; let my brightness part from them, and there is no my brightness. So it is one breath flowing through — how wall it off?'
Asked again: 'Heaven, earth, spirits, things stand through all the ages — why should they all be gone for want of my brightness?'
'Look at the dead man: his numinous sprite gone scattering — where now are his heaven and earth and ten thousand things?'
