先生曰：「『率性之为道』，便是道心；但著些人的意思在，便是人心。道心本是无声无臭，故曰『微』；依著人心行去，便有许多不安稳处，故曰『危』。」
问「道心」与「人心」。
先生说：「『率性之谓道』，便是道心；只要着了些人的意思，便是人心。道心本是无声无臭的，所以说『微』；依着人心行去，便有许多不安稳处，所以说『危』。」
Asked about the mind of the Way and the human mind.
The Master said: 'Following nature as the Way is the mind of the Way; stir in some human intent, and it is the human mind. The mind of the Way is soundless and scentless — hence subtle; walk by the human mind, and there are many an insecure step — hence perilous.'
