先生曰：「是有心求异，即不是。吾说与晦庵时有不同者，为入门下手处有毫厘千里之分，不得不辩。然吾之心与晦庵之心，未尝异也。若其余文义解得明当处，如何动得一字？」
朋友们看书，多有指摘朱熹的。
先生说：「这是有心求异，就不对了。我的说法与晦庵时有不同，是因为入门下手处有毫厘千里之差，不得不辨。但我的心与晦庵的心未曾有异。至于其余文义解得明白妥当的地方，怎么能改动一个字？」

The Master said: 'To seek difference on purpose is wrong. Where my words sometimes differ from Hui'an, it is that the point of entry differs by a hair that becomes a thousand miles, and I cannot but discriminate. Yet my mind and Hui'an's mind were never at odds. Where his explanations of the text are clear and apt, how could one alter a single word?'
