或问：「晦庵先生曰：『人之所以为学者，心与理而已。』，此语如何？」
曰：「心即性，性即理，下一『与』字，恐未免为二。此在学者善观之。」
有人问：「朱熹先生说：『人之所以为学，只在心与理而已。』这话怎么样？」
先生说：「心就是性，性就是理，中间下一个『与』字，恐怕难免把它分成两个了。这就要看学者善不善于体会。」
Someone asked: "Master Hui'an said: 'What man studies comes down to mind and principle, no more.' What of that?"
The Master said: "Mind is nature, nature is principle; to insert the word 'and' between them inevitably makes two of them. It is for the learner to see this well."
