先生曰：「苏秦、张仪之智，也是圣人之资。后世事业文章，许多豪杰名家，只是学得仪、秦故智。仪、秦学术，善揣摸人情，无一些不中人肯綮[1]，故其说不能穷。仪、秦亦是窥见得良知妙用处，但用之于不善尔。」
先生说：「苏秦、张仪的智，也是圣人的资质。后世的事业文章，许多豪杰名家，只是学了张仪苏秦的老套路。仪、秦的学术，善于揣摩人情，没有一点不切中人的要害，所以他们的辩说不能被驳倒。仪、秦也是窥见得良知妙用处的人，只是把它用在了不善上罢了。」
The Master said: 'The wit of Su Qin and Zhang Yi too was stuff for a sage. The deeds and writings of later ages — many a hero and famous name — only learned the old stock of Yi and Qin. Their art read men's hearts to the quick; no shaft missed the joint, hence their persuasions could not be overthrown. They too had glimpsed the wondrous working of innate knowledge — they only used it for the not-good.'
