The Master said: 'Only the sage under heaven is able to be clear-eared, bright-eyed, penetrating of thought — how mysterious it once seemed! Seen now, it is every man's own. The ear was hearing, the eye sight, the thought penetration, from the first: the sage is only able — and the able is innate knowledge. That the crowd cannot is only its failure to extend knowledge. How plain, how simple.'
