崇一曰：「先生『致知』之旨发尽精蕴，看来这里再去不得。」
先生曰：「何言之易也！再用功半年看如何？又用功一年看如何？功夫愈久，愈觉不同，此难口说。」
崇一说：「先生『致知』的宗旨阐发尽了精微，看来这里再无可进了。」
先生说：「怎么说得这么容易！再用功半年看看如何？再用功一年看看如何？功夫越久，越觉不同。这难用口说。」
Chongyi said: 'Your purport of extension has spoken the last subtlety — beyond this there is no going.'
The Master said: 'How lightly said! Work another half year and see; another year and see. The longer the work, the more it differs — past the reach of the mouth.'
