嗟乎！今诚欲求豪杰同志之士于天下，非如吾文蔚者，而谁望之乎？如吾文蔚之才与志，诚足以援天下之溺者，今又既知其具之在我，而无假于外求矣，循是而充[1]，若决河注海，孰得而御哉！文蔚所谓「一人信之不为少」，其又能逊以委之何人乎？
唉！如今真要在天下求豪杰同志，不指望您文蔚，还指望谁呢？以您的才与志，真足以救天下之溺；如今又已知其具在我、无假外求，循此而扩充，如决河注海，谁能挡得住！文蔚说「一人信之不为少」，那又能让给谁去做呢？
Ah! Seeking heroic fellows in the world today — if not you, Wenwei, whom could I hope for? Your talent and resolve could truly pull the world from the flood; and knowing now the gear is in yourself, borrowed from nothing outside — follow it and expand it, river bursting to sea: who could stay it? Your one man's belief no less — to whom else could the task be left?
